About Us
Falcon Training does only one thing: world-class project management training.
At Falcon, we understand that our success is not about us teaching -- it's about you learning. Everything we do is focused on that outcome. That's why we have on our team all of the different skill sets required for effective professional development:
- Subject matter experts
- Facilitation experts
- Educational design experts
Since our inception, we have been guaranteeing the success of our project management training. Our students come from companies of all sizes, including some of New Zealand’s largest organisations: Canterbury District Health Board, Partnership Health Canterbury, Foodstuffs, Allied Telesis, Gen-i, Noel Leeming, Meridian, and Solid Energy.
Falcon Training has also been contracted to deliver project management training courses at both the University of Canterbury and the Christchurch Polytechnic Institute of Technology (CPIT). At the University, we offer the 300 level Introduction to Project Management and the 600 level Advanced Project Management. At CPIT, we offer Introduction to Project Management (600 level), Advanced Project Management (700 level), and Resource Integration Management (700 level).
Our core project management training materials are grounded in the globally recognised standards of PMBOK (The Project Management Body of Knowledge). All of our facilitators are certified in their subject areas and meet Falcon’s standards of both technical competency and teaching style.

Kaila Colbin, PMP®, BSc

Kaila Colbin has more than 14 years of experience in project management, with a particular expertise in communications. She has a Bachelor’s degree from Cornell University and currently serves as Director of Communications on the National Board of PMINZ.
In addition to being an accomplished project manager and facilitator, Kaila is fanatic about outstanding customer service. Her aim is for customer experiences that are productive, delightful, and painless. Kaila is recognised as a skilled public speaker and has worked with groups in New Zealand and all over America. The South Island Branch Chair of PMINZ had this to say about her presentation on ‘Rock-star Project Management Communications’: “The attendees were not disappointed... Kaila's messages were clear, concise and applicable to our daily lives, both at work and in the home. 100% of attendees rated Kaila's presentation as having provided sound value for the time / travel invested.”
Kaila’s facilitation style is energetic, but backed by a deep knowledge of the material. Like all Falcon facilitators, Kaila employs a variety of techniques during her courses, including lectures, practical exercises, role play, and educational games.
Kaila provided one of the best learning experiences I’ve ever had—and I’ve had a fair few. She had the perfect combination of expertise and engaging quirkiness. It was a great course.
